Messaging: Reilly Nolan (copywriter)
Senior leadership took feedback from the Cisco Live US event, and asked for a compelling, revamped design approach to the event that would drawn in potential leads. I was tasked with overseeing the design, from concepting to execution.
“...I just wanted to acknowledge the huge success that was the CLAPJC booth this year. We challenged you to get us lines out the door and you delivered! ... I’m confident that you impacted our ability to have incredible conversations about the networking products with this booth and that we will turn that in to revenue for Cisco.”
Moodboarding
To begin, I met with content and the design team and organized a FigJam sessions to gather and refine inspiration into cohesive concepts, ultimately delivering a colorful, brightly lit approach that senior leadership approved (concept 1).
Concepting
I set designers up with a Figma board ‘starter kit’, including:
imagery from previous events
realistic asset dimensions
layouts provided by the agency
vectorized patterns from the original CLUS design
generalized copy layout
established messaging from content
Some proposed concepts from our first round of design exploration.
After incorporating all three design approaches and leadership feedback, I evolved the final branding and got sign off from all stakeholders.

Photoshoot
I worked with content to finalize booth copy, ensuring the photos aligned with the story of making the user the hero of their own quest, working with the creative director to help guide the photoshoot approach and prop selection.

Final photography comps
I also partnered with another designer to mock up the booth in Adobe Dimension for final approval. Shown below is the evolution of the mockups.
Arcade Games
Within a timeline of 2 days, I designed a secondary look and feel for the booth games to ensure contrast with the main branding. I created retro-inspired game wraps using modified colors and patterns, incorporating illuminated text and a stronger emphasis on blue for contrast.
Shown here is the contrasting, icon-driven approach I settled on. The illuminated colors and simplicity play into the neon light style of the retro stripes.
The Event
The booth was tremendously successful at Cisco Live APJC- so much so the lines were extending out in to other booths! The Chief Marketing Officer was overwhelmingly happy with the success of the event, attributing the influx of participants to the compelling design.
Candid shots of the lines at the booth
“Today was a big day for the booth... we were constantly mobbed by 2-3 huge lines of people!”
Takeaway
The success of the booth lead to an influx of new leads and customers, and received glowing responses from senior leadership. Going forward, the design will be iterated on in further Cisco Live events due to its success. Additionally, our ability to create partnerships and worked collaboratively interally will open up a world of creative opportunities for future event design.
